Every great business has two key leaders at the top. The Visionary and the Operator.
The Visionary sees what others can't. Inspires people and drives business. Becomes the face of the company.
The Operator keeps everyone accountable and on target. Builds the company and digital tooling. Turns vision into action.
Many founders try to do both. And for a while, it works.
But then growth stalls. Things get more complex. Cracks start to show. They feel overwhelmed by the company, frustrated by team issues, alone in pushing things forward.
That's when it might be time to find your Operator. Or vice-versa.
One more thing. There are two exceptions.
Some rare leaders can do both. You'll see it in the company's success.
Other times, you need a third role. The Builder who is obsessed with product, tech, and the craft itself. Then the duality becomes a trinity. Visionary. Operator. Builder.
